Good Evening SBECA Families,
Let’s start with a shout out to all the work we’re seeing from our students! We just completed the third week of school, and it was great to see students reading, writing, creating art & music, adding graphs to their first lab reports, and taking their first quizzes. All students have completed their first iReady assessments in reading and math, grades are going into Alma, and we’ll be halfway through the first marking period before you know it.
Important Notes: The Week Upcoming (September 23 to 27)

Soft Lockdown Drill #1 – this Friday, September 27 – during advisory at 9:25am

Reminder: we always notify students in advance about lockdown drills & re-teach them the procedures. When the announcement is made, faculty quickly checks outside their door to allow anyone in the hallways to get into the closest room; then lock the door, turn off lights, and hide quietly out of sight of the internal windows. It should be silent until the “all clear” announcement is made.

Shout Out!
[From SSS Leadership:] Shout out to Mr. Night and 7th ELA teachers who went above and beyond with differentiating student assessments and using the power of technology! Some of our scholars who receive test read accommodations were provided with a computer-based assessment through Pear Deck, which reads the chosen text to them. Shout out to our hardworking students and our dedicated teachers at SBECA!
